OpenRouter

Provider name: openrouter

What It Does #

OpenRouter lets the Discord MCP generate images through image-capable models available on OpenRouter.

You send a prompt to the Discord MCP, OpenRouter returns one generated image, and the Discord MCP turns that into a usable URL. If an uploader is configured, the Discord MCP reuploads the result before returning it.

What It Usually Needs #

At minimum, OpenRouter needs:

  • token
  • model

If the required configuration is missing, util_generate_image stays hidden.

How It Is Selected #

OpenRouter can be selected through:

  • X-Image-Provider
  • image_provider

Its credentials can also be supplied or persisted temporarily through:

  • X-Image-Token
  • X-Image-Persist

Request-Time Size Support #

OpenRouter uses the normal Discord MCP size argument. It accepts requested pixel dimensions from 256x256 through 4096x4096, including values such as 1920x1080. OpenRouter maps the requested dimensions to an aspect ratio and a resolution tier supported by the selected model.

Important Notes #

  • X-Image-Model replaces the configured model for the current request only
  • the Discord MCP calls OpenRouter's dedicated Images API
  • size is forwarded to OpenRouter without replacing it with a fixed list of aspect ratios
  • if size is omitted, OpenRouter uses its own default behavior
